Valentine’s Day does’t have to be the worst holiday ever when you have your GIRL GANG to spend it with! Isabella and I live together at MC, so we’re literally always by each other’s sides, but sometimes it’s nice to do something special and outside-the-box, especially when it’s a group of our friends together. I’m dating someone, but she isn’t right now, and I’m sure your friend group is a good mixture of single and obnoxiously unsingle as well. IN THAT CASE, who even cares because Valentine’s Day should be about love and that includes BFF love as well. So don’t worry about feeling lonely on Feb. 14th because I have a whole list of amazingly fun things you and your girls can do to celebrate one another. Isabella and I ended up having a pre-Valentine’s Day mix of girl’s night in and dessert swap, but I’m honestly excited to do all of these together Valentine’s Day or not.
Host a girl’s night in. Indulge in DIY facials, bath bombs, and at-home mani/pedis together while having a romantic movie marathon full of the best of the best including some of my faves: The Notebook, 50 First Dates, and How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days. If romance isn’t your thing, just pop on some of your favorite classics.
Have a dessert swap. Valentine’s Day is about sharing the love. Ask everyone to bring their favorite homemade dessert or candy—and then taste them all! Add board games to the night to make the fun last all night. This is a great one to enjoy with new gal pals who may be coming along as a +1. It’s easy for everyone to feel included, and the games make it easy to break the ice with new people.
Cook the night away. If you don’t want to ask everyone to bring their own food, create a menu of your favorite homemade comfort foods, and then cook it all together. Consider having a wine and cheese board for everyone to enjoy before/during/after dinner. The more wine, the better!
Have a tea party. Give yourselves an excuse to dress up with colorful dresses and hats while experiencing the lifestyle of sophistication. Prepare a fun spread of cookies and pastries along with an array of different teas to try. Everyone will love the novelty of the evening. Plus, it would be a PERFECT time to use that old set of China your grandmother gave you for graduation.
Host a ’70s disco party at the local rollerskating rink. You can wear funky and fun outfits while being a total goof for the night! Get the DJ to play your favorites from the 70’s or whatever sounds groovy. Everyone will be sure to take home some extremely cute pics from the night.
Throw a massive picnic. All you need is a bunch of blankets and your favorite people. Have this one at your house, on campus, or at your favorite public park. Designate something for each person to bring and share the spread when you get there. Listen to some tunes and enjoy the sunshine. For extra flair, buy a bouquet of flowers ahead of time and give each of your friends a flower with a personalized note attached.
